Excellent Skincare for Busy People
The first step to creating a quick beauty regime is using the right products, and only the right products. It’s time to discard the things you’ve been using out of habit for years and revisit your daily routines.
Busy people need a minimalist routine. That means minimum effort but not minimal results. The products and techniques you use should pack a punch so you get the best possible look for the rest of the day, quickly.
You can divide your regime into two areas – skincare and makeup. If you don’t wear makeup during the day then you only need to worry about a simple skincare routine.
A. Simplify Your Skincare Routine
It’s so important not to neglect your skin just because you’re busy. Like it or not, we are often judged by our appearance. But if you’ve little time or energy for a comprehensive skincare regime, here are some simple steps to follow.
The most important basics are simply to Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise. This will rid your skin of accumulated grime, balance out your skin, and place a hydrating layer to replenish the skin and protect it from the environment all day. Anything more than these 3 steps can be saved for a bit of extra time once a week or for regular facials with a professional.
1. Keep your favourite products on display
If everything’s to hand and ready to use then you’re good to go each morning without scrabbling around in cupboards and drawers. Sounds obvious, but it’s not always the case.
2. Choose time-saving products
We only recommend Tropic products, and not just because they are healthy, nourishing, free of all toxins/nasties and ethically produced. They also save time with their application. The cleanser comes complete with a bamboo cloth which you can re-use every day, and the toner can be spritzed directly onto your face – so there’s no need to remember to buy cotton wool pads or any disposable accessories at all.
Follow the Tropic ABC system and you can’t go wrong. Just 5 minutes each morning and you’re ready to face the world.
A. Soothing Cleanser
A luxurious cream cleanser complete with bamboo face cloth to melt away make up and impurities. This will cleanse, detoxify and purify your skin. Simply smooth 2 pumps over your face and neck and remove with the dampened face cloth.
B. Vitamin Toner
An instant skin refresher to tone and cool your skin. Spritz directly onto your face and pat into the skin using your fingers.
C. Skin Feast
A nourishing cream concentrate packed with a feast of 20 skin-loving plant, fruit and flower extracts. Ectoin and hyaluronic acid reduce trans-epidermal water loss to provide skin with long-lasting hydration. This product contains everything your skin needs to maintain balance and protection.
B. Streamline Your Daily Makeup Routine
Makeup isn’t for everyone but if you choose to wear it, it can be a time-consuming process. However, with a little organisation and the right products, you can come up with a basic routine that’ll make it easier.
a. Cut down your stash
Makeup is one of those things that accumulates over time as we add to the collection with new colours and products that catch our eye. Firstly, get rid of anything you don’t use, including duplicates and everything that is out of date. If you’ve not worn it for 3 months, you can get rid of it. Be honest with yourself. Make up has a shelf life anyway – for example, mascara and liquid eye liner should only be kept for 3 months, cream eye shadow 6 months and lipstick 2 years (shelf lives are mostly based on bacteria and effectiveness).
b. Simplify your daily look
Develop a simple, basic routine that’s good enough for every day – put aside a few products that achieve just that, and save the more imaginative make up for special occasions.
c. Keep two make up bags
Once you’ve selected your basic, everyday necessities, store them separately from the rest of your makeup. This way you don’t have to rifle through everything to find the few items you need each morning – and this will save you time.
d. Consider having a lash lift and tint
A lash lift and tint will enhance the look of your lashes dramatically, giving the appearance of longer, thicker lashes all day every day. No need for mascara or lash curlers at all. The treatment will last 6-8 weeks with no ongoing maintenance – a definite timesaver.
e. Adopt this 5 minute routine
You’ve streamlined your make up, simplified your look at put your daily necessities into a separate makeup bag. So here’s a 5 minute routine that should work for almost everyone:
Prep your skin with a product that doubles up as primer and SPF protection (see below for recommendations).
Apply a quick dusting of a mineral finishing powder if you prefer a matt look.
Apply mascara (avoid this altogether by having a lash lift/tint).
Put on a little blush.
Apply a sheer gloss or lipstick.
For a prep timesaver try either Tropic’s Tinted Skin Shade (SPF50) or their Beauty Booster (SPF35). Either will give you flawless coverage, like a light foundation or BB cream, whilst adding a layer of UV protection at the same time.
